Baby Pac Choi - always one of the first springtime crops!
And yesterday's interlude of sunny weather really got that spring-time itch going. That combined with the 20+ glossy seed catalogs that are stacked up next to the couch. So...had to go out and start 600 heads of lettuce and a couple 100 row feet of assorted mesclun mix items. Just a little something!
Oh, and inspect the garlic field - the little plants are really starting to come on strong with all our recent mild weather. Ooh-ooh-ooh! Just thinking about all that fresh garlic gets this farmer's heart a pitter-patting!
For those of you looking to find some fresh veggies, well, it's going to be a few more weeks yet. Willowood will be restocking the shelves at Bayleaf in Coupeville over the next few weeks with stored potatoes, garlic and dry beans but fresh greens and all the lovely goodness of springtime will be more likely to show up sometime in March.
Now Wilbur and Julieanna are looking to add a CSA to their growing farm operations (Willowood does not currently offer a CSA program) although they assure me they are still planning to do the farmer's markets as well. They have a new website and lots of information on their great new offering. They are signing up members for the 2010 season right now so check it out!

As always, thanks for all your support and we promise - fresh local veggies will be back on the shelves before you know it!
